Mountview in ruurlo

This sculpture was built and used for two years, frequently as water playground by children who loved to tip the buckets and get soaked by the water from the buckets (35 liters each). Then the waterquality standards in the Netherlands were raised. The surfacewater that was used was not clean enough anymore while many kids liked to play with .But the neighbourhood citizens around the place where it was built raised the necessary money to built a deepwell and water storage that provides clean water instead of open surface water. Now it works again, thanks to those persons it was not demolished.

Shown here is the model, i used parts of the sculpture mountview for it. The sculpture is three meter high, fifteen meter diameter and people can walk through it. The buckets tilt at unpredictable times, symbolizing the danger of water in this area. It was designed for waterboard Rijn en Ijssel and built near the railway station of Ruurlo, on a place next to a small pond. It is constructed entirely out of stainless steel. It was my first large scale sculpture, fifteen meter diameter, 3 meter high. I built and installed everything myself, which was quite some work to do.

Location: Stationsstraat Ruurlo
