A lamp for the new office.

This lamp is an example of the kind of lamp that can be expected within a couple of years in the new office.

It can be used as a test-object or reference for designers and architects that have to check their designs for new offices. Every aspect (construction, cooling, choise of leds, use, material choice regarding ecology and sustainability) is well researched and founded in theory, data and analysis. The styling is done through a thorough study of shape, form and associations. Bringing it all together, blending it into a good design, required much creativity and intuition.

It is designed to be used in a contemporary office, public spaces or at home.

!pet office furniture and supplies in Hoogeveen who contracted me for my graduation project has one in their showroom. It is shown between the other design and concept products, to give their customers a better idea of these future offices.

Designing, building and testing the lamp:

The pattern of the lamp had to look natural.

But what is natural? And how can it be designed?

This was a study on itself which finally led to Turing reaction diffusion models, fractals, geometry, parametric design, grasshopper, fish patterns, radiolaria, photoshop actions and finally a simple way to design natural patterns that are not simple in their look and feel.

A huge variety from a simple principle, not predictable, but algorithmically constructed and every time different. This is the nature principle.
